On September 3rd 2017, my Uncle Bobby passed away. It was a shock to us all. Uncle Bobby was my favorite Uncle. He was my Daddy\'s middle Brother with Daddy being the oldest. My Daddy took it hard as he always thought he would be the first to pass. I saw Uncle Bobby often at my folks house. We would play cards and laugh like crazy together. I grew up with his kids like they were my brother and sisters. If we weren\'t at their house, they were at ours. When we grew up, we all drifted apart, but that bond is still there even though we are all different as can be.
It has been a few weeks now, but I still can\\\'t believe that he is gone. It is unreal even though I went to the funeral and you guys know how I feel about funerals. I can still hear his laughter in my mind and see his smiling face. He was a very good man with a gentle heart who believed in God and treated everyone with love. He reminds me of PawPaw (his Daddy). I am still sad and get teary eyed about him being gone. I hate grief, but it shows that he was loved, for if you do not love, then you would not grieve.
Anyway, I offered to make a memory quilt out of Uncle Bobby\\\'s clothes for each of my cousins, Carole, Lil Bobby and Tracy. They each accepted my offer and told me to make whatever pattern I wanted to. So.... I still gotta figure that out. After the funeral, we went back to his house and Lil Bobby helped me to get all his clothes into the truck. It was a pretty good pile of clothes. Not as many as I have because he was a man after all. :)
I have spent the past week or so de-boneing or basically cutting the seams out, the cuffs, collars, waistbands and pockets off using scissors. I am used to using a rotary cutter and just trimming threads with scissors. All I can say is using scissors is a LOT harder than using the rotary cutter. My wrist and arm hurts from snipping with the scissors. I didn\'t have any problems cutting up the pants, but the shirts...made me cry a bit. I have seen Uncle Bobby wearing each one of them. They brought back happy memories, but also sadness that I will never laugh with him again.
Now, I have 3 piles of fabric that still needs to be squared up and cut into strips or squares to start piecing. I am trying to decide what pattern to use before I cut anything up because you have different sizes of strips and squares for every pattern. I am narrowing it down though.

I will update you more on another day. The pix is the piles of fabric I have left after cutting all the unusable stuff off. It will get even smaller when I square it up to cut strips and squares.
